Altcoin Faucet List
The term Altcoin refers to any other virtual currency that is “alternative to Bitcoin.” Today, there are countless cryptocurrencies, some created with the goal of complementing Bitcoin as a digital currency by improving upon its features, while others were created purely for speculative purposes.
Since the value of these alternative cryptocurrencies is currently not at Bitcoin’s level, their faucets are generally more willing to give away substantial amounts, giving users the opportunity to build up a good Altcoin portfolio in anticipation of future price increases. So why not take advantage of it?
Here are the faucet lists for the cryptocurrencies that are emerging as the most solid and those with the highest potential.
Why accumulate Altcoins?
It should first be noted that, at present, almost all cryptocurrencies, with a few rare exceptions such as casinos, online services, or specialized websites, cannot be used directly to make purchases. Instead, they must first be converted into Bitcoin. This is due to their extreme price volatility, resulting from their still relatively low market capitalization.
The benefits of collecting altcoins are therefore different:
- make a profit in the short term by using exchanges and speculating on their frequent price fluctuations through trading techniques;
- or hold substantial amounts of these alternative digital currencies in your wallets, waiting for their value to increase in the future, similarly to Bitcoin.
In the first case, after accumulating reasonable amounts of altcoins from faucets, they can be traded on exchanges to generate quick profits by taking advantage of their high volatility and periods of pump and dump activity. For this purpose, virtually any cryptocurrency currently in circulation can be used, including those known as “shitcoins,” which were created solely for speculative purposes: intraday trading can therefore represent a profitable opportunity. In addition, using faucets to collect these coins for free helps reduce the risk inherent in this type of financial activity, since it eliminates the need to invest any actual money, such as euros or dollars.
In the second case, however, not all altcoins are suitable for this purpose. It is necessary to carefully evaluate the underlying projects and determine which ones may genuinely have the potential to represent a worthwhile long-term investment.
Requirements of the best altcoins to hold
Those who prefer a buy-and-hold approach to altcoins should carefully research the strength of the currency and its actual ability to achieve its stated objectives. Although claiming from faucets does not involve a monetary investment, it still requires an investment of time that should not be underestimated or wasted.
For example, the cryptocurrency Dash is fundamentally designed to facilitate secure, private, and fast transactions. To achieve such ambitious goals, its developers must continuously improve the blockchain, effectively promote the cryptocurrency through marketing in order to attract capital, and build a community that fosters discussion around the project’s growth. Only when all these elements are present can a currency be considered to have good future potential.
Let’s take a closer look at the requirements that distinguish a reliable altcoin from a shitcoin.
Technology
Cryptocurrencies are fundamentally based on technology, in the sense that they are created to solve specific problems, such as making transactions easier, faster, or more private.
First of all, whenever available, it is essential to consult the documentation, such as the whitepaper, which explains what the altcoin aims to solve, which algorithms it uses, and the steps involved. Even without a technical background, it is enough to assess, at a basic level, how realistic or feasible the stated goals and methods are.
A good cryptocurrency should also have its source code publicly accessible on platforms such as Github. These repositories make it possible to assess whether the technological project is original or derived from others (forks), as well as how it evolves over time, taking into account the consistency and relevance of updates. This analysis can help determine whether the development team continues to implement the source code, fix bugs, and keep the project active.
Market capitalization and third-party trust
One of the most important factors for a cryptocurrency is its market capitalization, that is, the amount of real (FIAT) money invested in it. The larger its market capitalization, the more solid and relatively less prone to sudden fluctuations the altcoin tends to be compared with other digital currencies. As evidence of this, one of the most authoritative cryptocurrency websites, Coinmarketcap, ranks all altcoins primarily according to their market capitalization.
To further assess the economic strength of an altcoin, it is also necessary to investigate the level of trust it has earned from third parties, such as whether it is accepted by online stores, supported as a currency by credit cards and ATMs, or used as a means of donation.
Marketing
In order to attract capital, an altcoin must make its features known. Marketing is therefore used to encourage users to buy and use it. However, advertising should be targeted and truthful: altcoins that rely on overly aggressive marketing, make excessive promises of easy, substantial profits, or fail to clearly communicate the project’s actual objectives should be avoided!
Community
A currency that is not used will obviously eventually have no value. This is why the community of users surrounding an altcoin project is also important for understanding its future potential. The larger, more active, and more capable the community is of fostering discussion, the more transactions take place and the greater the importance of the currency becomes. To assess the amount of discussion surrounding an altcoin, you can refer to sites such as Google Trends, social platforms such as Reddit, or forums such as BitcoinTalk.
